How Long Does It Take to Sell a House in San Antonio? (2026)

By Chris Dudley, San Antonio REALTOR® and founder of Legacy Realty Group, brokered by Real Broker, LLC (TREC #731381). Updated October 2026.

The short answer

In September 2026, homes in the San Antonio area took close to three months on average to sell, according to the San Antonio Board of REALTORS® (SABOR) as reported by Texas Public Radio. There was about six months of inventory, meaning it would take six months to sell every home on the market at the current pace. Even so, SABOR reported that about nine out of 10 sellers were getting their original asking price. Time on market depends heavily on the area, the price and how the home is prepared.

What the numbers mean for sellers

  • Pricing matters most. With about six months of inventory, buyers have choices. Homes priced from a current comparative market analysis tend to sell; overpriced homes sit and often sell for less after reductions.
  • Areas with many new builds can take longer. In ZIP codes with active new construction, resale homes compete with builder inventory and builder incentives, so preparation and pricing need to be sharper. See buying new construction in San Antonio for how builders compete.
  • Days on market is not the whole timeline. After you accept an offer, the contract sets the closing date, and the buyer's financing, appraisal and inspection all happen in that window. See the option period and inspection.
